Yale University, Yale School of Management receives an AIA CT Award of Merit

Yale University, Yale School of Management has received an AIA CT Award of Merit. This project was in collaboration with Foster + Partners who were the design architects and we were the Architect of Record. The award was given to us at the awards ceremony which took place in Farmington, CT on December 2, 2014.

A comment from the Jury, "There is a clear big idea which is unabashedly followed and a nice use of section to incorporate a large auditorium and underground parking, thereby preserving the site for landscape. It is clearly about creating a signature architecture that speaks of its client’s importance. The building’s free flowing forms and spaces clearly reflect the dynamic and collaborative nature of the modern global economy. The design successfully achieves a balance between large-scale civic monumentality and sensitivity to the human scale."

Yale School of Management's main components—classrooms, offices, common spaces and auditorium—are grouped around a central court, in the tradition of Yale campus architecture, large enough to accommodate graduation ceremonies and other major events. The ground floor is devoted to common facilities, the auditorium and publicly oriented components of the office block. Two double-height floors accommodate tiered and flat-floored classrooms, which lend themselves to horseshoe and other layouts, reflecting the varying teaching methods of the School of Management curriculum.

This project is anticipating LEED Gold certification.
