The C-Street Expansion is a 175,800 gross square foot (gsf) project. 111,700 gsf will be added to the south side of the existing H. Carle Moultrie III Courthouse with the demolition and reconstruction of 64,100 gsf contiguous space within it. The Project will be phased to permit construction while the courts remain operational. The Project rises 6 stories on the C Street façade. All floor levels in the addition match the existing floors. The project’s addition and renovations are contiguous on every level, with the addition’s top floor rising to the 4th floor of the courthouse. The site development plan includes new streetscape, garden and security features. The project will provide six new criminal division courtrooms with detainee holding and support spaces, chambers for 21 Associate Judges, office space for Family Court and Social Services, and Juror facilities. Final Design Approval was granted by the United States Fine Arts Commission in April 2011 and is currently in construction.
This project is seeking LEED Gold certification.
