IBI Group ▪ Gruzen Samton provided the District of Columbia with a full range of planning and interior design services for the complete renovation of the historic District Building which houses the mayor, city council, deputy mayors, and administrative offices. The project encompasses 150,000 SF of space and included the complete renovation of both the exterior and interior of the building as well as infrastructure modernization. The new offices provide approximately 600 personnel with general office support and specialized spaces, including executive offices, staff office, data center and press facilities. This adaptive reuse project joins historic and contemporary spaces, while introducing state-of-the-art telecommunications/data systems, engineering systems and ecologically responsible office environments.
IBI Group ▪ Gruzen Samton was also responsible for the programming, planning, interior design, and project management for new offices for the mayor of Washington, DC. This project was conceived and completed within approximately 90 days between the mayor’s nomination, election, and inauguration. The effort included the reconstruction of approximately 5,000 SF of office space, space planning, construction documents, re-use of existing furniture, engineering, vendor coordination, and project and construction management. This project was completed over the holiday season and ready for the inauguration on January 2.
