IBI Group ▪ Gruzen Samton, in association with David Brody Bond, led a planning effort for future development of this established campus of the City University of New York (CUNY). The Master Plan established programmatic needs to be accommodated on the 74-acre campus and a envisioned 350,000 gsf campus expansion to be implemented over a 10-year timeframe.
IBI Group ▪ Gruzen Samton established a conceptual development framework, provided locations and massing for new facilities, and provided space programming and funding budgets for discrete building packages. The acquisition of additional land, adjacent to the campus, provided an opportunity to plan an improved campus entry and to reorganize the internal circulation. The site presented our planning team with a number of challenges, for it is one of the few campuses in the CUNY system that is not easily accessible by mass transit. Furthermore, almost all members of the faculty, as well as a large percentage of students, arrive by automobile.
IBI Group ▪ Gruzen Samton addressed requirements for parking and for outdoor recreation on the site while developing phasing for construction with minimal disruption to campus activities.
