New York City Transit is planning a real-time information and schedule management system that will collect and distribute consistent and timely information on the state of B-division (e.g., lettered lines) train service to staff and customers. Leading a multi-consultancy team, IBI Group has been providing Systems Engineering services to NYCT Capital Program Management as it works through the lifecycle of this system investment. IBI Group’s work began at the very beginning of the project lifecycle, with the development of a Concept of Operations for the system that defined conceptually what the system should do. The team then performed an Alternatives Analysis that identified a number of options for implementing the system concept and worked with stakeholders to achieve consensus on the preferred alternative. The project is currently in the requirements phase and the IBI team is defining the functional and performance requirements for the system, along with developing a verification and validation plan, an organizational change management plan, and the functional, physical and data architecture of the system.
