As a provider of independent senior living as well as home care services and senior centers, Selfhelp Commuity Services is committed to helping the elderly age-in-place by enabling them to stay in their current residences. The architectural efforts expended in the development of KVII focus on delivering this goal so that residents remain happy, safe and healthy at home. In 2013, IBI Group Gruzen Samton completed Selfhelp KVII, a 15-story, 92 unit residence for seniors, at a cost of $18 million. Located on an under-utilized side lot of a project built in 1968 (also by IBI Group Gruzen Samton), KVII is classified as a Non-Profit Residence for the Elderly (NPRE) under NYC Zoning Code. NPRE status allows increased density for permanently affordable senior housing built by non-profit providers.
